Meet Stanna

Hi! I’m Stanna – Pediatric Registered Nurse turned stay-at-home mom, health and wellness advocate, and self-care guru.

I am the Author of everything you find here at Humbly Nurtured.

My mission is to empower moms to be the healthiest version of themselves so that they can raise happy, vibrant children for the betterment of our future.

I have been passionate about wellness for a while now, but it wasn’t until my daughter was born (two years ago) that I became captivated with a holistic lifestyle and discovered what it meant to truly be healthy.

My journey to health started in college after seeing the documentary called Hungry For Change. I honestly feel like that was the beginning of it all (although it took me a while to figure things out).

Before then, I lived a ‘what I thought was healthy’ lifestyle – Eating low-fat, low-carb, nutrient deficient foods; over-exercising; and filling my environment with chemical laden beauty products each day.

In nursing school, I learned all about how the body works and how medications could help people feel well again. When I finally became an RN and actually started administering medications and treatments to my patients, something just didn’t seem right.

I began to discover that the root cause of medical diagnoses were rarely addressed and that symptoms were merely managed with a ‘quick fix’ pill or injection.

I realized that medications (in most cases) simply acted like a Band-Aid that helped to mask the symptoms for a short time, usually causing the individual more trouble in the long run.

I now have learned the power of wholesome nutrition and believe that food should be used as medicine whenever possible.  I also believe that combining the clinical aspects of healing with the mental, emotional, and spiritual pieces will aid in addressing the whole individual and ultimately achieving true health.

I needed to make some improvements with my own health (I was struggling with acne and amenorrhea) so I began to delve deeper into natural health and wellness.

The more I researched into this world of holistic living, the more areas of my life I discovered that I needed to change.

This is when I found chiropractic care and began to get adjusted on a regular basis. I learned how to decrease the toxins in my environment by using all-natural cleaning products and reducing hormone-disrupting plastics.

I also began to incorporate more nutrient dense foods that worked with my body rather than against it.

After giving birth to my first child, I am now, more than ever committed to creating a healthy living environment for my family.

I am continually finding out new ways to improve my health and I love to share what I have learned along the way!

Why I started Humbly Nurtured?

I started Humbly Nurtured mostly because I am passionate about helping others. If you want to know more about where the name came from click here!

I have learned so much my first year of being a mother and I want to share this knowledge with others. I know that I am by no means an expert at parenting but my hope is that I will be able to empower other mothers to start living naturally and in doing so, raise happier healthier children.

I believe moms are the “health CEO’s” of their families. In other words, we are usually the ones to do the shopping and make the general wellness decisions for the family.

We have a great responsibility to create a healthy environment for our loved ones.

Moms have the power to affect significant change on the future! It is truly in our hands.

So mamas – Let’s make a difference!

Please feel free to comment, share, and link any of my content as you see fit. I seek to help bring the message of health and change to as many people as possible.
